To say it had been a busy week at the mortuary was an understatement. Shirley, the wife of a popular barkeep in our community, had died suddenly when she slipped and fell, hitting her head on the corner of a table as she went down. The folks who witnessed her death were traumatized. She was a kind woman who made everybody feel at home in her bar no matter how much money they might have had.
